The Parable of Kuti Hall Cafe

Sunday, 04 March 2012 · Christian Life
Come, all ye that fret and worry when ye ask and hath not yet received. Listen ye to this parable of mine; all ye that turn back from serving God because thy time is not yet at hand. Hear and know that patience is one important virtue that the children of God should imbibe and that the Sovereign Lord is wiser than we all.

Behold, there was a time in this university, not too long ago, that the halls around the school area were renovated with special attention paid to their cafeterias. And it came to pass that the Kuti hall cafeteria was never considered for any renovations. At that time, I kept wondering why this hall was so neglected and left in its poor state.

But Ecclesiates 3 tells us that there is time for everything. And it actually came to pass that in the right time, the Kuti hall cafetaria was visited. As it turned out, the present state of the Kuti hall café well surpasses that of all previously renovated hall cafeterias in beauty. Indeed, "He hath made every thing beautiful in His time..."(Eccl. 3:11)

So I learn from this happening that there is really no need to be anxious over a request from God. We do not need to be envious of others’ blessings when ours’ has not yet arrived. It may be that the exceeding greatness of the blessings that God is about to reveal in thee is what He is taking time to prepare.

I shall tell another true life story that seems like a similar case. I am reminded of a good friend of mine who was (and still is) very zealous in the things of God. As though that was not enough, he was also exceptionally brilliant. But even in the era of scholarships here in UI, he wrote several scholarship tests without been awarded any—while many of his friends were getting even more than one. But brethren, this friend of mine never had to write any exam when he got a scholarship worth more than all that which his friends had got.

So it is really true that, “… ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” (Heb. 10:36). When thou art expecting from God and He dost appear to be late, just trust in Him and consider that in the end the answer will make thee laugh at last. And thou knowest that it is said that “Those who laugh last, laugh best”. So learn ye from the parable of Kuti hall café.
